Easy Steps to Reinvigorating Your Routine
For most busy moms, it’s one thing after another that needs to get done every single day. From the moment the alarm clock sounds off to begin the day until the evening when it’s time to go bed, a mom’s schedule is always full of things to do around the house, for her kids, for work, and other responsibilities and things she needs to make time for.
Things can get hectic, routine, and stressful and, usually, moms will look for ways to spice things up or change them a bit. More importantly, when moms don’t have time for themselves and every second is devoted to other people or things, she may get stressed out or frustrated with the lack of pampering and care she can give to herself. This is why if you are a busy mom and you feel as if your routine can do a little working around, then a reinvigoration of your present may be just the thing to help get you back feeling on top.
Here are a few tips to help you slow down the pace and reinvigorate your routine as well as yourself.
- Do less. A lot of moms are just putting too much on their plate, trying to juggle and do everything all at the same time. Evaluate the things that you’re doing and try to see what it is that you can eliminate. By eliminating the small things that aren’t necessarily important, you’ll be freeing up a lot time on your schedule for other things that you never get around to doing.
- Don’t be afraid to say “No.” Most moms feel that when they say no – to their child, husband, mother, or friends – they’re giving a negative answer and that they’re horrible people. This is wrong. Know when to say no because one person can’t give or do everything for everyone. By saying no to a few things, think of it as saying yes to other things in the future.
- Declutter your space. Now, this is easier said than done because we all know that tidying up and organizing takes a lot of time. Start small; take a few minutes each day to put away or throw things you don’t need. If you see something, think right away if you need it and, if you do, put it where it needs to be.
- Have a daily relaxation ritual. Whether it’s taking a cup of your favorite coffee, soaking in a bath, reading a book, talking to friends, or exercising, make sure you devote time each day to yourself, doing the things you want (not need) to do. This will help you feel that you’re loving and caring for yourself more and you’ll feel that not all of your day is given to your kids, work, or home.
Being a mom is hard work and almost all moms are busy. However, you can always take these simple steps towards changing things up and making it easier for you. Remember that being a mom is not just about doing what you have to do – it’s about enjoying every second of it.
