Character Develops Thinking
Your mindset determines whether you win or lose. In other words, your success is determined by how you think. If you have a negative thought, you have to counteract it with a positive one. I realize that is easier said than done. I know from personal experience. But just as I realized that changing my thoughts was a great challenge, I also knew that it was the key to creating a new mindset and opening doors to opportunities I never thought possible before. Most of the time, we’re fearful of what’s to come, but if we are determined to become winners in life, we must force ourselves to keep moving forward and thinking positively. Trust me, your new thinking will never acclimate to your old ways of doing things.
In the greatest book of all time—the Holy Bible—Jesus puts it this way, “No one puts new wine into old wineskin, for the old skins would burst from the pressures, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.”[1] What does that mean? The simplest way I can explain that Scripture is that new ways of doing things are not compatible with the old ways. As a result, the mind needs to transform so that it can be conducive to the new ways. If you process new information with an old mindset, you won’t be able to understand the information. In other words, it would be a waste of time and energy. Is processing new information with a new mindset easy to do? Of course not!
Compliance is the greatest threat to moving into something different. Most if not all humans are creatures of habit. We are comfortable with doing things a certain way and find it difficult to change. But to think like a winner, you have to be willing to detach from your old ways of doing things to discover new opportunities. Don’t allow yourself to be boxed in by a one-track mindset. There is a whole world of untouched possibilities waiting for you to discover it. But it’s going to take your changing from the old to the new.
